Subject: Need some cat advice -

My daughter brought home a five week old kitten two months ago - Cleopatra is a cute tabby who looks like a leopard.

for the most part she has a sweet disposition though she has strange kitten spurts where she darts back and forth across the room at the speed of a cheetah on amphetamines.

What baffles me is that every so often - like now. she hops onto the foot of my bed, sits down, looks up to the ceiling, head tilted back a bit and meows.

there are no lights up there. no reflections. no moving parts. There is a ceiling fan but it's never on.

What in heaven's name could she be meowing at?

[> Maybe she wants you to scratch her head? My cat never meows, sometimes I think she has no voice. But then she me and I know she 's out of food. Cats have a mind of there own, sometimes beyond explanation. But I'd take a cat over a dog any day. -- usmgrad, 03:37:33 12/17/14 Wed [1]

[> [> I have both - the german shepherd Gunny- he's mind. The pitbull Boston who technically is my son's and the kitten Cleopatra who belongs to my daughter even though she spends her days with me. She's fairly affectionate for a kitty -- chris k, 12:40:07 12/17/14 Wed [1]

[> Well, I'm a cat and dog person, love them both, and my guess is that the kitten doesn't know what the fan is, so Cleo is trying to figure it out. Turn it on and see what happens. Hope she won't ever be able to jump that high...LOL -- jenks, 06:39:29 12/19/14 Fri [1]

[> [> I hadn't thought of that jenks - will have to see what she does - and she's one heck of a jumper but I think I don't have to worry about that one - yet - LOL -- chris k, 11:39:12 12/28/14 Sun [1]

[> [> [> [> you know what we think - she's waiting for it to move. I realized last week that my daughter's fan is always on - but not anywhere else in the house- she doesn't meow at the fan in Erica's room - so maybe she's telling us to turn it on ???? -- chris k, 04:13:49 01/13/15 Tue [1]
