Date Posted: 19:57:55 06/28/05 Tue Guys, you rock. I have a question about democratic idealism, and whether or not it can influence your respect for your commanders. I believe in this war becuase it is rooted in the Jefferson principle that Democracy will one day be spread throughout the entire world, that humans in general desire and deserve liberty from oppression. I also believe that it is the U.S.'s responsibility to shy from isolationism and give Democracy to others who cannot achieve it on their own. It's obvious that I'm naive, and that others might not share this viewpoint, but regardless of ideology the fact remains that we will be here until stability and democracy has been achieved in Iraq. There is a certain man whose name rhymes with Lt. Troyd Fluax, and he constantly expresses his desire to get out of the military, stating that he will resign his commission as soon as we get home. He says that this war is pointless, based on greed, and that the only reason he is here is to collect a check. My question is whether or not such esteemed boneheads as yourself would feel less respect for such a man based on such statements? Are there any regulations that restrict such statements from commissioned officers and NCO's? Do you think there should be? [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
