Kalia started with surprise and turned to find herself facing a black phoenix. A chirp escaped her as she returned the obsidian bird's gaze. Her first reaction was to spread her wings and shriek warning at the sudden threat, but her wings crumpled to her side in mid-stretch upon further scrutiny of the beautiful raptor; the other firebird’s eyes projected friendly greeting and her colors weren't dangerous. Kalia cocked her head with curiosity; never before had she glimpsed a black phoenix that wasn't fairly dripping evil, but she brushed the thought aside. Where are my manners? she berated herself. ::Greetings, friend. I am Kalia. Apologies for my rude welcome; I have yet to see another black phoenix not siding with the Telgans. Are you new to these grounds, as I?:: she sent telepathically, lacing her thoughts with affability. Abruptly, she was interrupted by a deep, rumbling voice that spoke from above them, and her glance darted upwards to meet the stare of an immense, ivory dragon; Kalia’s flames flared an intense auburn as she recognized the unmistakable air of Dreygara. The Queen’s dragon! she thought eagerly, long have I yearned to meet such a Guardian! ::Welcome indeed if I’m able to meet such a fine creature on my entry into these parts:: she sent; mindful of the dragon’s rank, Kalia nodded respectfully. ::Guardian, might I inquire as to where I might receive some adequate training?::

Err; I'll try to explain. Pending any rules or guidelines, I thought the phoenix was free game, and decided to let my imagination run rampant, ^_^ So, if any of my char’s abilities are pushing it, lemma know. Here’s some info that might help. My char has three primary gifts: mood-changing flames, Reading, and telepathy. Firstly, she is permanently clothed in living flame, and these flames are always colored according to her mood (I’ll explain the colors later). Secondly, she has the ability to read ppl’s estire (aura), basically the colors encircling a person. From this she can discern the person’s mood, intentions (bad/good, she can’t actually *read* their thoughts), and power level. This gift can be blocked, depending on the person. I decided to dub this ability, Reading- for lack of a better name. Lastly, she is able to use telepathy, since she cannot speak (I never really took to the idea of having a bird’s beak form words like a human’s). Meaning she can only send and receive. So, have no fear, she cannot read minds, :) If there are any rules (i.e., how many abilities and what they are) I don’t know of them, so lemma know, and I’m not laying any claim whatsoever to these “gifts” so any other phoenix can possess them. Last I checked these were immortal, so we’ll say that my char is the phoenix equivalent of 23, k? Phew! Hope my messages will shorten with time!
