• Dinner on the Grounds at White Rock Cemetary! -- Sassy, 21:31:50 06/27/09 Sat [2]
  Sunday, June 28th is the Fourth Sunday in June this year and is the day we all gather at the White Rock Cemetary to celebrate all those that have passed on before us. To decorate the cemetary and mingle with the other families with a picnic lunch. It is also a time to make a donation to the Cemetary Fund. If you can not make the trip to come and celebrate then please find it in your heart to send a donation to this Fund. Please mail your donation to the following address:

  I just received word that Mr. L.C. Rains passed away this past week. He will be missed at the annual White Rock Dinner on the grounds as well as his many stories from the past.

  Well Mom(Merlen Davis Teer)and I made it home from the dinner. We arrived a bit late after I overslept, but we still managed to visit quite a few people at the dinner. There were some new folks there this year. The Koonce Family which were celebrating a memorial for one of their ancestors. I cannot remember the name they said but he was the first minister at White Rock Church. There were also the usual crowd Mr. LC which can tell some good stories and many of his family (I always remember Martha Ann). Mr. George Davis and his son Roger. George can tell a few good ones his self. Of course Rex, Dexter, which I have some fun with every year. They can never seem to remember me. Marceline Crenshaw was missed this year as she was attending an Eastern Star Installation over close to Ft.Worth I believe. I really missed visiting with her although I just saw her at my OES installation on June 14th in Houston when she performed a wonderful ceremony for me. She is really a very busy lady. I believe the Williams Family and I think it was the Anderson Family were also in attendance. I took some pictures this year and will try to get them posted up soon. The food was as good as it always is. I think because it goes so well with the company and conversations!

  Well another year has gone by already and this year the dinner on the grounds will be on Sunday, June 22, 2008. I am planning on being there again this year to give my donations and put out some flowers. This event is every year on the 4th Sunday of June so plan to get there early to eat dinner before it gets hot!!!

• Dinner on the Grounds this Sunday morning! -- Sassy, 20:29:21 06/23/06 Fri [2]
  The annual dinner on the grounds at White Rock Cemetary will be held this Sunday, June 25, 2006. Everyone is welcome to come and bring a picnic and share your food and fellowship with others. This is also when the cemetary board will be collecting money for the upkeep of the cemetary grounds. It is always fun to meet others that may be kin to you in some way as well as many others that have family buried at this cemetary. The cemetary is located on Hwy 7 between Nacogdoches, Texas and Center, Texas. Please come on by if you can.

  • Momma and I just got home from White Rock. We enjoyed visiting with all those that attended this year. It was really hot again this year, but the company and food was great.   I am trying to find my great great grandfather, M. Wilkerson. He was from Shelby, County Texas and died in the late 1860s. I have read on the Internet, that other Wilkersons are buried at White Rock. M Wilkerson's name appears on his son, James' Death Certificate.

  Sassy,the Savells names are Ellis,Tommy,and their sister Della,which are buried just behing the church building,I can still remember them,just as plain as day.Congrats on the White Rock board.It will become as big of a board as our family board.

  Hello, may name is Sarah Frances (Teer)Lovelady. Sassy is my nickname that my family calls me. I am the daugher of Merlen Jane(Davis)Teer. I am the granddaughter of Easter M. Davis and Dettie G.(Chandler)Davis. I was named after Sarah Francis Davis all of which have been buried at the White Rock Cemetary. My father Nelson Teer is also buried there. Charles Davis, William H. Davis(Sonny)are both my Uncles. Yvonne Davis Chaney and Carolyn Davis are my Aunts. Harvey Chaney and Bobby E.Davis are my cousins. And Lauren Aldous was my great niece. I hope this message board will be of a big help to those of us who have family and friends buried at White Rock Cemetary in Shelby County, Texas. I plan on someday being laid to rest in this cemetary as well. Please keep it up well. Thanks to all that was at the Reunion Today to honor and keep this cemetary going. I was told that my great,great grandfather donated the land for this cemetary. I will find out what his name was and hopefully learn more in the future with the help of this site. We are also kin to Tommy Savell and his brother. I remember Tommy but not his brother. I need to start writing all of this down so I won't forget all that I have learned so far.
