This is true, though I think sometimes a teacher can step in and stomp out some negativity if the parents are mostly just being non-active about dealing with it. I've seen it before, where a parent doesnt really actively encourage something, but doesnt stop it either, and I think if a teacher comes down strong against it, they might tip the balance (or they might piss off the parent and they'll leave...).

Personally, I feel that dance class should be a "safe" zone, no putting down, period. If kids are worried about being cut down by thier classmates, they cant give everything they have to do the best that they can, and thats just not productive.
