The wind was calm in the dead of night, when the mare was on the move. Her pelt blended with the shade the moon left in her wake, and her hooves beat to a rhythm she alone could heard and dance to.
Moving through the woods cautiously, and quickly, she soon came to a stretch of land where she saw a few others, where the foals were sleeping, and stallions were keeping watch over their herds for the chance of another stealing them while he slept.

Slowly, she ambled down the slope which led to vast plains, rolling hills, and beyond that, she saw castles, houses--and to her distrust--people.

But she knew that it was time to rest. Unconcerned about wolves or of other things, she picked her way into the plains, where she tossed her head about, and announced her presence, before trotting about, searching about, for who or what, remained on this land.
