I'm a little surprised that she said it would be that much, she told me $115 or less to ship to Buffalo, and $15-$25 for a crate. She may just be estimating high to be on the safe side.

You really can't go wrong with one of her babies though. She has them DNA tested for sex. Her facility is tested 4x a year for all of the common bird viruses. She swabs different areas of her home and nursery and sends them to a lab.

She give you a free toy, about 6 lbs of free food, and you can buy a cage from her at cost. And when she ships them home, she takes a cat carrier, installs a perch and sets it up with toys. That way you have a nice carrier for going to the vets, etc. He also came home with a container of extra sprouts, and pellets on top of the food she sent ahead of him.

Like I said, he birds won't even start laying for about another month. When the egg hatches you have to put $100 down and then you have another 3 months to come up with the rest while they are weaning.

If you already have about $700, you only need another $400 max. (over the next 4-5 months) And remember that bird will live for 60 years. That's an average of $6 a year. Isn't $6 a year worth it for a bird that's happy healthy and well adjusted?

The business major in me is showing, lol

Jessica
