Subject: Toy idea! Foraging basket… (pictures)

This is not a new idea by any means, I just added a little twist! LOL! I have a basket filled with toys next to Mr. Green’s (My new green cheek conure) cage and as soon as I open the cage in the morning, he likes to go rummaging through there to see what he can find to play with. So I thought I would do something similar in his cage. I got a basket from the Dollar Store, a pack of brown sandwich bags (Wal-Mart) and a bunch or toy parts, foot toys, plastic rings etc. I fastened the basket to the bottom of the cage at the side, then fill the bottom of the basket with two shredded brown bags. I just ran the bags through the shredder. Then I put a bunch of toys in there and some more shredded bags to sort of hide the toys. Then I sprinkle some toys on top to let him know there are goodies to be found inside the basket. I did this last night while he was out of the cage and I was cleaning it at the end of the day. Then I put him back in the cage to go to bed but he saw the basket and made a B-line for it! LOL! I then did the same thing in the Cockatiels cage. I will see how they react to it today. But this was Mr. Green’s reaction.
