Because your babies came from a usda approved kennel I dout it is a puppy mill. They are checked & re-checked by every federal & state inspector and most registeries. By the way AKC is just a registery. I'm a USDA & State Liscensed breeder and I'm also 100% AKC'd and inspected by them too. I think some AR's would like it if NO animals of any kind was owed by anyone let alone bred. I also think I could buy a mansion & feed & water them in GOLD dishes and it would not change the narrow minded AR's. Or ALL the B*S* they spout off!
