Well , there's no such thing as a tea cup Min. Someone can market them as teacup and people love them. However if you do get one that grows to what would be considered "teacup sized", this is because of improper breeding. It means that the parents live in terrible conditions, the mother is malnourished during gestation to ensure the puppies don't grow to standard size, cruel injections of altering minerals are given to further induce stunted growth in the babies. What you have once they are born is improper heart function, livers which aren't of nominal proportion , lungs that don't have the capacity to keep up with the activity level of a Min Pin, and in the end their breathing suffers due to the inability to process oxygen.
This whole mess with WOC isn't "new or unusual" it's only being brought to light because someone got mad enough to say something to the "right" person and it spread like wildfire. Those kinds of places are all over this country and ofton nothing is ever said because people aren't aware that there is something they can do. What saddens the most is that everyone is sooooo concerned about the puppies that they have purchased , spent money on , and even lost already and the puppies currently in the store now. I would hope that in all of your anger and understandable frustration you would stop a moment to think what the parents of each of these puppies go through and the sufferages that are brought on to them in the places they unfortunatly have to call home. As long as you're putting a conceted effort into some form of animal welfare action against WOC , it wouldn't hurt to put in a good word for him to produce the names of his supposed " wonderful breeders". By federal laws , there are no privacy guidelines as to who breeders are. It is a matter of public information. He cannot refuse to give those names based on their right to privacy.
As an advocate for specific breed rescue , the realism is if people didn't crave dear tiny little puppies then these places wouldn't be in business to start with. There are all kinds of breed specific rescues everywhere , if one wants a loving companion they should entertain the thought of a dog that for sometimes unfortunate family and most ofton terrible abuse by the humans who are supposed to love them. Check out a rescue, it's by far not as expensive as places such as woc, and you have a bonded licensed place who will be there if and when a medical need arrises.
