Who cares if she has dogs of different breeds or if she has several dogs--all that indicates is that she loves dogs. As a journalist, or in her case, as a person with so much power to inform people, she would be doing her audience a disservice by not informing others of what's really going on. I do not think it's smart on her part to not bring up a topic because it would create enemies--that would simply make her a coward and she doesn't deserve the airtime that she gets if that's her philosophy.

It's about companion animals that man has domesticated and has forced them to depend on us. I would hope that you as an AKC breeder would agree that most if not all puppy mills have deplorable conditions that no animal shall endure. I am not saying to provide golden bowls or frilly outfits like WOC photographs the puppies with. There is no argument that dogs and puppies need proper food, clean water, acceptable shelter, some type of human socialization and exercise, as well as their vaccinations/heartworm preventative, etc.

We're a pitiful society. What the hell do we want freedom of speech for if we are so afraid to use it? There is not one topic that could be brought up by anyone that wouldn't be met with some type of opposition. There will always be opposition (as there is now--many of us on this forum are against puppy mills; irresponsible millers are all for it). Yet, we cannot afford to take some type of stand or communicate/educate others just because we're afraid of "opposition." Is it OK abuse women? Children? Is it OK to beat homeless people? Is it OK to drive drunk? Is it OK for businesses to act fraudulently? People take a stand every day and meet opposition.

This isn't a very diverse topic. Focus on puppy mills and the facts are there. I rather have a few people angry at me when I speak the truth than feel guilty each day because my dogs have a warm bed while hopeless dogs balance their paws on rusted wires trying to shelter themselves from the bitter elements.
