AKC Breeder- although you call them "ARs" many shelter and rescue people LOVE to refer people to truly reputable, local breeders. It is the puppy mills that shelter people warn the public about.
The problem is that there are radical, extremist breeders in your group (and the AKC) that CLAIM to be reputable breeders and proud AKC members, but instead lobby for the puppy mills. I am sure you know of Patti S. and her group- Patti has an unhealthy relationship with Hunte Corp, and TRULY reputable breeders do not want the AKC to register Hunte Corporation dogs any more! But Patti keeps pushing for the AKC business relationship with Hunte Corp
Patti and her elderly mob attack anyone who even suggests proper licensing and inspections and anti-cruelty laws. They call these people "Animal rights terrorists" (I note you use the term "AR' which comes from their kind of propaganda).
They are agitating within the AKC now to prevent licensing and inspections, and help backyard breeders and puppy millers.
All the while, they LIE and claim to represent hobby breeders or reputable breeders.
When truly reputable breeders kick clowns like this in the behind, and separate from them, and lobby FOR licensing and inspections, then the reputation of breeders will improve.
But for as long as "reputable" breeders align themselves with puppy mills, and protect the mills, breeders will have a worsening reputation.
