THANK YOU SO MUCH for mentioning OPRAH! I have emailed her MANY times too do do a story on puppy mills, backyard breeders, and pet stores. Just like you, I don't understand how she can claim to love her dogs so much, but not want to expose a horrible reality facing millions of dogs in this country.
A friend of mine told me once that she heard Oprah doesn't want to do stories on dogs or other animals because she is 100% dedicated to women and children. But I find that to be an OUTRAGEOUS and LAME excuse. She has TONS of shows that have ZERO educational value (i.e. all the celebrities), so it's not like she is ALWAYS doing shows to benefit women and children.
Also, Oprah does shows on family violence and there is an obvious connection between the way a person treats animals to the way they treat human beings. The only thing I can think of to be the reason Oprah won't do a show is because maybe she bought her dogs from an irresponsible breeder and maybe she would rather have her head in the sand on the issues too. Just a thought.
