Hi all
I was at St Vincent's 1975-1978
The staff was firm but fair, some of the kids I remember are, Nick mathews,
Peter hill, Brian cox (met him later in adult prison) Kenroy George, (bully) John Shea, young frank, Martin Johnson. And so on!
Most of us was from broken homes, some were orphans, and some should have never been there at all. I was in cuthbert house which was quite modern compared to the older part! The staff and monks I remember are,
Brother Richard, brother Thomas, other staff was Mr Higgins and hes wife who was house master. Joe galvin, (nice man) earnie crowhurst! Mr Haines so called PE teacher who smoked 40 a day! I also remember Mr stintson who was mentioned in an earlier post a very bitter man although I had no problems with him, I never witnessed any abuse by any staff members,
I think it was a different place in the mid 70s, not at all like the 50s or 60s,
I had good times and bad times there,
I think it made me a strong person that I am today,
I would also like to mention Mr Ellis I used to admire him.
Excuse any spelling mistakes,
I was educated at St Vincent's.....
