A truly ancient forest of staggering beauty, the Forest of Shadows is no place for a stranger. When so many old-growth trees seem to form an unending maze, to become lost often means to be lost forever. Horses here must be frugal, for the small leaves of the low, scraggly bushes offer little nourishment. In the autumn acorns fall from the trees, in the spring, young trees try desperately to reach upwards in small patches of sun. But the beautiful forest is not a forgiving place - indeed, a horse must know how to take advantage of their options if they are to survive. Those the Forest of Shadows and its predators deem worthy may find themselves in a paradise- there are no rivals here. So far, three have lost the test this habitat has put forth; "look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under't."
