Subject: You know-with each split going two at a time its only thirteen pairs
In reply to: fedup 's message, "Try standing that long with your feet turned out. Do the last few groups have the same advantage? Smaller splits do not take longer so why the big splits?" on 09:43:04 12/20/05 Tue

at about 1 minute per pair its really not the end of the world-they probably spend longer standing in the lunch line at school! As far as big groups go-although over the past 2 or 3 years we have become accustommed to smaller groups-its not really that big. If we were in the Mid Atlantic region we could have 50 dancers in our splits! Also, it does not affect the percentages awarded so same # of dancers get placed. Finally, once you are in pc you will be facing bigger comps. Bigger comps give the dancers in the middle of the pack more of a chance to place.

Replies:

  • Smaller splits do take longer-it takes a while to 'load ' dancers onto the stage and with some stage monitors it is significant extra time! -- danemom, 08:43:33 12/21/05 Wed
  • 26 DANCERS DON'T FIT ON THE STAGE AT ONE TIME, SO ONE MUST RELOAD NO MATTER WHAT. (NT) -- P, 20:17:29 01/03/06 Tue
