Richloam Sportsman Association needs volunteers to help with the annual Richloam Cleanup on Aug. 16.

Check-in starts at 7 a.m. at the Richloam check station on County Road 788 in Sumter County (off State Road 471), just south of State Road 50.

Following the cleanup will be drawings for door prizes as well as lunch. The main course will be provided, and those attending are asked to bring a side dish.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will be at the cleanup with its hunter safety program. Also, the Division of Forestry will have its antique fire truck and fire prevention program on site.

Richloam Wildlife Management Area is one of the seven large tracts of the Withlacoochee State Forest, located in Hernando, Pasco, Sumter and Lake counties.

In past cleanups, the group has collected as much as 23 tons of trash from the area, including boats, washers, ovens and other items that have been discarded in the forest.

Anyone wishing to help with the cleanup is invited. For information, call (352) 583-0700.
