Interesting memories. School is different now. The kids can do what they want and no one gives a damn. Then they wonder why the streets of France are lit up at night with riots, or the center of our cities are controlled by youth gangs.

Our society doesn't need more prisons, or harsher laws, or more people in jail. What we need is schools teaching children to work and to behave. Then they'd not be rioting when they're 18. This doesn't mean corporal punishment. Corporal punishment is probably a bad idea. Too many teachers are idiots and can't be trusted and the teacher lobby is too strong and protect their own even when they know they are idiots. Besides, hitting people just teaches kids it's okay to hit people. But firm discipline and control are needed.

As you can tell from my name, I'm not a youngster, a Boomer, or even an oldster. I'm ancient, lol. But I still have all my marbles and here in the seniors' home I'm enjoying learning to visit with people on the computer.

What I want to say about this post is that back when I taught school there were consequences. I never liked the strap much. Too many teachers were what we called 'strap happy.' But consequences are important. That's how people learn right from wrong. I click on the wrong button on this machine and all my work is lost. Consequences. I learn to click the right button, which actually is usually the left one, which I'm going to do now and send this off by magic.

Away we go on Mabel's magic carpet.
