Dogen... or whatever his name is, the leader at the temple ... why would he want to have Sayid dead if Jacob had entered into him.
What 'it' is that is growing in Sayid, is evidently that which has manifested in Claire. I think Claire died from her knock on the head (?) and was 'resurrected' (did Miles talk to her spirit or the resurrected Claire?)? And 'it' doesn't like 'the Others.'
But the Christian Shepard who got Claire to leave was actually the MIB who appeared to Claire. Then it was the MIB also - as Christian - who told Locke to move the Island. But which Christian appeared to Jack in LA?
But I am betting that 'it' can be resisted and we will see that happen in Sayid (Sayid is central to the struggle on the Island?). I think it all goes back to Soren Kierkegaard's Fear and Trembling (French translation, Crainte et Tremblement), something will come which will be Sayid's test of faith. It came for Claire and she perhaps did not pass it and thus the infection overwhelmed her?
