I am tracing my ancestry and I have reason to beleive that my gr grandmother was Native. her name is Victoire Savageau (Victoria Savage) and according to the US census she was French Canadian. In the mid 1800's she married a Ny born French Canadian nmaed Napolean Duvernay. They resided in Franklin County, NY. My grandfather was my only link but unfortunately he passed away 50 years ago when his children were young. His oldest daughter remembers visiting relatives that lived on St Regis. While going through some old papers I also found several photos and mass cards of a Mohawk Saint. I would like to find out who Victoire's parents were and trace my family tree back to the beginning. I'm not sure if Savageau was her original last name. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
