The location you give for the NY photos; was that written on the back of each photo?
If not, where did you find the location? This is the same place as Canandaigua in Ontario County, NY?

From Frederick Hodge, HANDBOOK OF AMERICAN INDIANS NORTH OF MEXICO, 1904

Page 199
Canandaigua - (meaning: 'a village was formerly there') - An important Seneca town near the site of the present Canadaigua, NY, destroyed by Sullivan in 1779. There was another settlemnt not far distant, called New Canandaigua, which also was probably destoyed the same year.

Note:

Enrolled Seneca families are now enrolled on the Allegany (Cattaraugus Co. - Irving, NY), Cattaraugus (Irving, NY), Oil Springs (Irving, NY), and Tonawanda (Niagara, Erie and Genesee Counties - Tonawanda, NY) Reservations.

If you use the Family History Library Catalog for the library in Salt Lake City online at http://www.familysearch.org, you will see records for those reservations. These photos are just the tip of the iceberg. If you are to discover more, you will need to study the subject of NY Indian History and dig more deeply into records. Not all Indians died or went to reservations. Many Indian women married white men and were absorbed into white society. Many Indian families just "hunkered down" and remained in their communities.

I hope you keep working on this. You will find more information, I think, and it will be fun, I hope, for you.

KD
