Okay here is the story; My grandfather said one of his great grandmothers was Indian. It cannot be on the Blake side because Giola Blakes parents had a fit and disowned Giola when she married Harris Page because he was supposedly part Indian (apparently the Blakes owned alot of land and none of the Pages got any of the land).

So that leaves me with his 2 great grandmothers on Harris Pages side... they are Caroline Hilton married to Elijah Page. The only documents I found were two marriage intentions filed in Winthrop, one in Jan and one in March. The other grandmother would be Temperence Burgess, married to Calvin Wing (Emma Wing's parents, my grandfather's grandmother).

So far I have been trying to get documents for Emma (Wing) Page (Calvin and Temperence's daughter, my grandfather's grandmother) and I have not been able to find a DC nor BC nor anything other documents on her with the expection of some letters she wrote to her brother but nothing to indicate that she was even the daughter of Calvin and Temperence, let alone Indian. More than likely she is their daughter though. She is buried in the Wing cemetery next to her twin sister Carrie (I also could not find any documents on her twin sister). So that leaves a little hole in my research right there. I know where she is buried but cannot find one document for her. The historian in Wayne, Maine says it didn't appear that she was Indian but then again there is nothing saying she wasn't either. Either way there is nothing to find.

So do I skip over Emma and try to find information on Temperence (Burgess)Wing? (My grandfather's great grandmother, Emma's mother and wife of Edwin Page.)

I JUST found out about Elijah Page and Caroline Hilton, it took awhile because on Edwin Page's (my grandfather's grandfather) DC her first name was left blank. I did find the marriage intentions filed in winthrop but apparently stuff was lost in a fire or something. So I do not know where Caroline Hilton is from to continue my search. They could not find a DC for Caroline Hilton in the state of Maine Archives. Though I may try again... sometimes they get lazy I think so I will send in a request one at a time.

So... the two leads I have are difficult to find any documentation for.

Does that clear things up?

I am not quite sure how to proceed and am avoiding joining ancestry.com because it's expensive. Plus I don't know what ancestry.com could do to help me, except provide census records, which are a good tool.

Any advice?
