In the American Revolution, a "Cornet" was a 3rd Lt. of Cavalry? I think an "Ensign" was a 3rd Lt. of Infantry? Macemore, Sizemore, Blevins; they are all old N.C. family names. For early Tenn. ancestors; the N.C. Secretary of State had old N.C. landgrants in Tenn., for War of 1812, and possibly Revolutionary War service.
