Jeremiah Bell Howell, son of John Howell who came into this community (Webster area) and settled at Skelt on Sugar Creek with his wife Bessie. Jeremiah was a son of Jeremiah Bell who was a merchant, was killed in a robbery before his birth. His mother Bessie Wilson married a Howell and gave birth to six other sons. J.B. took the name of Howell, never being sworn. Taken from a book put together by my Grandpa Robert Gilles information he wrote june 7, 1988. The book was poems by J.A. Howell the blind poet.
