My father was adopted in 1929, but I have his original, handwritten birth certificate which lists his biological parents. His adoptive mother told him his biological mother was Native American. The birth certificate lists his biological mother as "I. A. Hosey". Birthplace: West Virginia. "Age at last birthday: 32" (as of March 18, 1929). She was a housekeeper and lived at 5071/2 Virginia Street. According to the birth certificate, my father was a twin, and the twin was alive. The physician was R. J. Brown, 215 1/2 Capitol St., Charleston, WV. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can find out if my grandmother was, in fact, Native American? The birth certificate says she was white.
