 I am hoping to establish a connection between my ggg grandmother Mary Ann Hendricks (prior marriage or maiden name?) and the Cherokee tribe. This is what I know:

Mary Ann was born in Kentucky about 1816.

She married Silas Davis Cartwright 1836 in Warren Co., IL

According to the 1846 Iowa census and the 1850 federal census, she and her family lived in Wapello Co., IA.

The 1860 federal census shows her 7 children, ages 22 to 9, living with different families. I have not found Mary Ann or Silas.

Vesta Ann, her 7th child, married Thomas Jefferson Ball.

I will certainly appreciate any information you may be able to share.
