Subject: Kart Rules

These are the karts rules for Watermelon Capital Speedway (subject to management changes):

BOX STOCK 6.5 OHV
Description: BSP or Harbor Freight 6.5 #61280 allowed. NO FLATHEAD MOTORS.
Cylinder Head: Stock casting only. No porting, polishing and/or grinding. Two angle valve seats allowed: 45 degrees valve face and 30 degrees top relief. No copper or aluminum head gaskets.
Blocks: Stock cylinder bore. Welding to the block for rod damage repair only.
Carburetors: Stock carb only. Choke must be stock and functional, no modifications. Main fuel jet .042” max. Any low speed jet. Stock emulsion tube only. Aftermarket air filter and adapter OK.
Valve Train: Stock 4 bolt valve cover only with stock gasket. Stock rocker arms 1:1 ratio. Valve spring: max spring wire is .0705” with a maximum tension of 10.8 lbs. at a height of .850”. Stock lifters only, no modifications.
Ignition System: Stock system only.
Flywheel: Stock flywheel only (5lbs 4oz minimum) including plastic fins. Any timing/flywheel key.
Piston and Rings: Stock only. No oversized pistons.
Connecting Rod: Stock rod and rod bolts only. No machining, no billet rods.
Crankshaft: Stock crankshaft only. No machining, polishing, or other alteration of crankshaft. Stock timing gear in stock location.
Camshaft: CL1 cam OK. No modifications or other cams.
Blower Housing: Pull starter must be present and remain stock. Pull starter may be rotated for a better crank angle. Taping or changing flywheel screen ok. No rotating screens.
Header: Any header. Any stock exhaust gasket.
Fuel Tank: Stock or Floor Mounted fuel tank. Pulse type fuel pump allowed.
Fuel Pump: Any pulse fuel pump. Pulsed from valve cover only.
Clutches: Stamped steel drum shoe type clutches only. No axle or disc clutches. Open gear rule.

STOCK APPEARING 6.5 OVH

Description: External: must appear like a BSP or Harbor Freight 6.5 HP engine unless otherwise noted. Internal: see below.
Cylinder Head: Stock cylinder head only. Machining of gasket surface allowed. Porting allowed. Stock Head Bolts required. Stock 4 bolt valve cover only.
Bore and Stroke: May be bored, but no more than .060” (overbore).
Carburetor: Stock Appearing OEM carb. Floor pan mounted fuel tank and pulse-type fuel pump required.
Valve Train: Rockers, ball adjusters, rocker arm studs, lock nuts, pushrods, and lifters must appear stock. Any single valve springs allowed. No roller or billet rockers.
Camshaft: Max lift of .285”.
Ignition System: Stock ignition only. No modifications of any type.
Piston: Oversized Piston must be flat top or dished. No domed or pop-out pistons.
Connecting Rod: Billet rods. No Titanium rods.
Crankshaft: Stock crankshaft only.
Block: Stock Block only. Welding to the block for rod damage repair only.
Flywheel: Minimum weight is 3.3 lbs. Any timing key.
Header: Any header.
Clutch: Open clutch. Any gear. No axle clutches.

FLATHEAD RULES
Bore/Stroke: May be bored. Stock stroke.
Valves: Stock size valves only.
Carburetor: Briggs and Stratton carb only. May be bored. NO TILLOTSON.
Header: Any header is allowed.
Fuel: Methanol only.
Clutch: Open clutch. Any gear. No axle clutches.


ADDITIONAL RULES FOR THE ALL CLASSES
Weight: Combined kart/driver weight 350 lbs minimum.
Chassis: Any chassis including champ or straight rail karts. NO YARD KARTS
Safety: 10lb fire extinguisher in each pit (State Law). Drivers will wear as a minimum, gloves, full face helmet, protective jacket, long pants and boots or full foot shoes (no sandals or open toe shoes allowed. Neck brace or neck restraint (i.e., Valhalla 360 device) is MANDATORY.
General Rules:
The following rules will apply to kart racing at WCS (Watermelon Capital Speedway). Other rules may be put into place at tracks discretion.

A. INITIAL:
a. Drivers will be required to sign a waiver prior to racing karts at WCS.
b. Each driver is required to sign and draw themselves (no substitutes).
c. Roll call may be taken by track officials at the drivers meeting.

B. ON TRACK:
a. All instructions from the flag stand will be obeyed. Failure to obey = disqualification.
b. All starts and restarts will be double file.
c. Yellow or red flags: failing to slow during a caution or failing to stop during a red flag can cause you to be disqualified.
d. ABSOLUTELY NO BUMP DRAFTING OR INTENTIONAL CONTACT. IF YOU INTENTIONALLY HIT, BUMP, BUMP DRAFT, SHOVE, ETC…YOU WILL BE BLACK FLAGGED AND DISQUALIFIED.
e. Cones will be placed on the track in the turns and on the straight-aways. NO KART WILL RACE, PASS OR MOVE ABOVE THE CONES. Racing, hitting the cone or passing above the cone line will result in disqualification.
f. All directions of the pit steward will be followed.
g. Any driver that gets out of their kart while on the track for any reason of than injury or safety will be black-flagged. No exceptions.

C. PITS:
a. No driving in the pit area (safety issue).
b. Designated kart parking will be between turn 4 and the flag stand against the pit road wall. Karts will be pushed onto pit road.
c. Drivers may use pit road to drive to their pit area
next to the wall or driven to the pit road entrance and stopped.


WCS track or tech officials decisions are FINAL.
THESE RULES CANNOT BE CONTESTED.

PLEASE NOTE: Stock and Stock Appearing are two DIFFERENT classes. You will be asked to declare a class when signing in. If you are racing in the Stock class, YOU ARE SUBJECT TO TEAR DOWN BY THE TRACK (NOT A PROTEST) TO KEEP THE STOCK CLASS JUST THAT......STOCK.....
