It is the Fourth Age of Middle-earth. The War of the Ring is over, and the Fellowship has gone its seperate ways. Most of the Elves have left to go across the sea to Valinor, the Undying Lands. King Aragorn Elessar and Queen Arwen Undomiel have passed away, leaving their son Eldarion as King of Gondor and Arnor, the Reunited Kingdom. King Eomer of Rohan has also died, and his son Elfwine rules in his place. As of the Hobbits, Sam has joined Frodo in Valinor, Pippin and Merry have traveled into the south, and Faramir I, son of Pippin, becomes the Thain of the Shire. Legolas has also sailed across the sea with Gimli, the first dwarf to enter Valinor. Faramir, Steward to Aragorn has died, along with Lady Eowyn, and Fornost, capital of Arnor, has been resettled. Also Eldarion has rebuilt Osgiliath, naming it the capital of the reunited kingdom, and Minas Tirith remains the capital of Gondor under Faramir's son, the new steward. Prosperity once again reigns in all of Middle Earth.




But the peace of Middle-earth is about to be disrupted once more. While Sauron is gone, Saruman is still at work. He pleads his case to Mandos in the Halls of the Dead, and the Valar have given him a second chance to fulfill his true mission of service to Middle-earth and the prevention of evil. But the wizard is sly and cunning, and while he claims he has changed his ways he has lied. He has built a stronghold named Minas Orme, the tower of wrath, and wages war upon Manwe and Varda and the other Valar who dwell in the west and those loyal to them in Middle-earth. For he has emerged in his true power as a great Maia and has become dark and terrible, renaming himself Saruman the Black.The Avari, Dark Elves who remain on the Eastern shores, are the few elves that have lingered in Middle-earth, but they, coming out of the East, fight under the banner of the Ithryn Luin, the Blue Wizards. For these wizards have forsaken their oath to the Valar, and seek to use the Avari and Easterlings to claim Middle Earth as their own and strike revenge on Saruman, who years before in the east plotted to murder the two. But Radagast the Brown, failing in his mission during the third age, has turned back to helping Middle Earth, and from his house at Rhosgobel he struggles to protect the great forests from Saruman and the Blue wizards.




Now the Kingdoms of Men, Elves, Hobbits, and Dwarves are in danger of falling into darkness once more. The loyal ones are all that remain to oppose Saruman's wickedness and support the Valar. Once again, the fate of Middle Earth is about to be decided in the great struggle between the five wizards...
