Subject: OK, Here we go! First topic has got to be Ash the Daddy

As I said inside below, I loved how this was handled. Kat knows her family, so it's all there from the beginning in the way she thinks about them so naturally. It's only the reader that collapses in shock!

So sad, though, for Ash. Another example of his recklessly lashing out at someone who's hurt him (Artie) but ending up hurting innocents and himself most of all.

[> [> I agree Beth. They share a child, something very special to Ash and there was definitely some move to see Artie in a (slightly) more sympathetic light due to Katra's recounting of Artie's conversations with her as a child in DMC. I also con't see how Ash can truely move on until there is less acrimony towards Artie - I feel the anger binds them just as strongly as any other deep emotion IMO. -- Melanie Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket, 13:00:45 07/26/07 Thu [1]

[> I can't wati to find out why you've softened so much in regards to Artemis. From what I've seen I understand his hostility. -- Leiha, 08:59:18 07/26/07 Thu [1]

[> [> Oh, she's a major bitch, and if Ash ends up with her (which I doubt) I won't be happy, BUT Kat loves her. And that's forcing Ash to reassess his own attitude. PLUS, there's the hugh fact that she did show him Kat - it was his misunderstanding that lost his daughter. -- Beth, 09:07:36 07/26/07 Thu [1]

[> Let me just say,it feels sooooo good to be right about this! *G* I have thought Ash & Artie were Kat's parent's for quite a while now,and I did a few toe taps and pumped my fist in the air going 'YES!!!' several times when it was absolutely confirmed,LOL.I feel like all my manic note-taking is finally starting to pay off,EG!I also feel a bit sorry for Artie now,and thought the moments with her & Kat as a child were sad & sweet at the same time.Honestly, though,I was bit surpirsed that he didn't at least start to choke her or something,LOL.He really was kind of in shock over it all though,IMHO.One thing I thought was a little odd,was that he wasn't a little madder at Simi for not telling him.OH,and I still think Artie is a total selfish bitch,though-did anyone else catch that comment she made to Kat about not worrying about the humans,b/c they'd 'just make more'. -- Bo, 06:44:32 08/09/07 Thu [1]

[> Artie will never change. That is the whole of the conversation the Ash and Katra had when they talk for the first time. She betryed him, he wouldn't forgive her. Thus hurting himself by losing the chance to watch his daughter grow. That is why Ash told Katra about pride and sometimes you have to say your sorry and really mean it. I don';t think Artemis can really mean it, she is too cold and selfish. -- Gabmar, 11:21:13 08/10/07 Fri [1]

[> I have to say I was disappointed in how this was handled. I thought Ash was too calm. Come on look at his reaction to Nick sleeping with Simi. Yes, he told Kat he learned from that but please, he just found out he had an 11,000 year old daughter. I would have liked to see more anguish, more anger and more pain. A couple of buildings falling down would have been nice. I really wanted to cry during this scene and I found it anti-climatic. Come on at least yell! I also found it weird that Kat would call Ash dad or daddy instead of the greek or atlantean term for dad. -- Leiha, 18:03:31 08/14/07 Tue [1]

[> [> I believe Ash is heading for a mental breakdown. This is like another straw on the camel back, so to say. I can believe his "lack" of reaction. He is a man on the edge. Can a former god have a breakdown? -- Gabmar, 17:17:34 08/16/07 Thu [1]

[> [> About the "daddy" bit, I thought that was done purposefully to help us connect more to that relationship than we do to Kat's with Artie. The term she uses for her mom doesn't resonate with us the same way it does when she's crying out for her daddy. Most people have a much more emotional connection to that sort of outburst. -- Ana, 10:51:13 08/18/07 Sat [1]
