Subject: Now to get us started....

I realize that this is a little late in the game with season one already out on DVD (boy they were never that quick with Buffy) and the second season well on it's way, so if anyone wants to muse over the happenings or meanings of the past episodes/characters please feel free. I am just going to talk a little about lasts night episode.
**Spoilers** for "My Mother, The Fiend"

I absolutely loved the interaction between AH and CC. Aah, memories... My fingers are crossed for another scene like that.
The "health" project with the scary babies was funny and very telling.
Veronica's continuing contention with Celeste can only add to the fire that is consuming the Duncan/Veronica relationship (and I don't mean in a good way).
Wouldn't you love to be able to have such great comebacks in the face of an adversary...Well maybe not, but it is fun to watch.
Logan/Weevil story definetly needs to move forward. How many fights are they going to be in before we get bored, wait it already happened. There is too much potential for Weevil and Logan is getting a little tired as the poor little rich boy.
I don't know if VP (Principle) Van Clemens will turn into an ally or be a bur in V's side, but boy I had to love him when as she said, "..not taking credit for it, even more bad ass..." He is sly.
Okay, who is the cutest together? Mac and Beave, awwwww
Do you think Beaves plan to have Kendell be the front "man" will totally backfire? I hope not cause he seems like a pretty sweet kid considering his family history.
Real quick before the crazy ending....
I miss Wallace...What ever happened to Jackie? Will they be back?

Okay, now the I can't believe it ending. obviously it was coming, but to see Meg pregnant was ewww. I completely feel for V and it makes me not like Duncan. Not because he got her pg, but because he seems to be so dishonest to V about how he feels. (Side note: Did he or didn't he sleep with Kendell?) There is one redeeming way out for him. The note he found is when he found out about her being pg and just didn't know how to tell Veronica. But still I am not feeling the Duncan love.

I watched the alternate ending and
*
*
*
Veronica is in Megs room and hears her mother come in so V hides in a bathroom. The mom turns up some religious music and says everything will be just fine, then leaves. Veronica walks out and hears the monitors flatline, Meg has a pillow on her face and V picks it up. Just then a nurse comes in and asks what she did....

I personally prefer the orginal ending. I think the alternate would take us down a crazy road with uncertain exits. Although if they do go that way it would tie into the fact that Meg's parents are abusive and only care about how they look to others. (Are they going to be held accountable for what they have been doing to the little sister or is Lamb going to blackmail them too?)

Well, that's it for my thought trail feel free to contribute and I hope the show is on for many years and we can discuss things for just as long... Tara

So this ending was instead of the original ending or an "added extra?" Did it definitely happen or is it just a "what if?"

Thanks in advance Munchy (can I call you that!?)

The alternate is found at aol and it says it is 9 min long but only the last minute is different. Apparently we are supposed to vote on which one we like best, but I can't find where to vote. And then next week we will find out which ending viewers like best. How that will play into the plot I don't know because the episodes have already been filmed.

Munchy? Hmm, I think I like it. I mean I like food :), so sure.

[> [> [> The place to vote was right next to where you click on to see the two endings. -- Clairel, 17:16:35 12/01/05 Thu [1] (adsl-70-233-179-84.dsl.okcyok.sbcglobal.net/70.233.179.84)

I voted for the original ending, because a Meg pregnancy plot is very interesting to me, but a Veronica-being-blamed-for-murder plot is not interesting to me. Also, if Meg had actually flatlined after her mother smothered her, that would mean no more Meg, and I want Meg back (alive and conscious). I think Meg opened her eyes at the very end of the original ending, and I want Meg conscious again. Comatose women having babies is just icky. There's also more dramatic potential in Meg being conscious.

But how much time has gone by since the bus crash, anyway? Meg wasn't visibly pregnant on the field trip.

I do want the abusiveness of Meg's parents to come out somehow, more than just Lamb knowing about the little girl in the closet -- I just don't want their craziness to come out by means of a Veronica-framed-for-murder story.

I have a question about Beaver's website. Is the Phoenix business something he's starting up in actuality, or is it just a theoretical school exercise? I know he asked Kendall to be the CEO, which sounds as it if's going to be a real business enterprise, but I also thought he might just be messing with Kendall and getting her hopes up only to deflate them.

The reason I thought it might just be a school exercise is because when he asked Mac to help him, Mac told Beav he just was trying to get her to do his school homework for him.

The whole point of the Beaver-Kendall interaction is that "Phoenix Enterprises" is Cassidy trying to be like his Dad. He's running a real estate company with Kendall as his front woman. When Mac figured it was his homework he did not disabuse her. It's not. That's where Kendall comes in. He's paying her and using her in his scam just like his Dad did.

Because ... wait for it ... his parents, neither of them, taught him right from wrong or gave him positive role models. Absent any other input he's just like them. That's IMHO what RT is saying about the 09'er world.

Did you catch his muted threat to Kendall? He doesn't want sex with her; just a front-woman. So she doesn't have power over him. Beav is far more dangerous than Dick Jr. because he has a brain. But unlike Mac whom we've seen there are things she won't do (last season) Beav seems intent on following his Dad's spectacularly bad example.

Meg? Likely pregnant from her ... father given how the parents are made to be religious (and thus evil). That was probably what was in the note. It also fits Duncan's need to be the good-guy "rescuer" for damsels in distress after his sister's murder. I could well see Duncan rescuing Meg simply because he could not rescue Lilly.

What you said about Beav developing the Phoenix Enterprises website and just letting Mac think it was a school exercise actually makes sense. I think Beav is trying to set up a real business.

But unlike his father, he may be trying to set up an honest business. How do you know for sure that he is just repeating his father's dishonest ways? I see Beav as the nicer of the two Casablancas brothers. Your character interpretation of Beav is really off IMO.

Also, I thought you had declared that the VM show is essentially "dead" (i.e. morally bankrupt). Yet here you are attributing deep moral messages to the scripting of Beav, etc.

Which is true?
