Subject: My Pearl Gourami changes color

I have a Pearl Gourami that is approx 5 years old. It seems to be in good health and we haven't had any problems with it. It just one day decided to turn a dark brownish black color. It goes back and forth from its normal pearl appearance to this dark color with light spots. I can't pin point any particular time or temperature that makes it do this. I was just wondering if any one else had experienced this.
