Subject: Elephant nose( Mormyrus Tupirus)is scratching his back

I have an Elephant nose and it is alot of fun. yesterday and today we have noticed it getting in the water current from the filter return and going in forward and reverse. It will also do this against the glass and against the filter pick-up tube. Are these characteristics of playing as it is a n intelligent fish. Should I be aware of disease or parasites that cause this.
