Subject: pearl gourami

Help!
My male pearl gourami is dying. His anal fin is ragged looking, and he either has slime or an abrasion on his side.
I have not seen any of the other fish bothering him, but none of the other gouramis (female pearl, opal pair, blue pair, or female gold) are ill. How can I help him?
Please tell me what you can...
