Subject: Mollies and causes and treatment for ick

I used to be fairly knowledgeable about mollies and other live
breaders. I just aquired 7 mollies My mom's boyfriend had them in a
tank that stopped working when the power went out one day and he
didn't bother to restart the filter for a week. I set up a different
tank in my room and moved the mollies. When I got all of the ones
that were still living I noticed two things. First A couple of the
fish have little spots that look like there scales are flaking off.
I'm fairly sure this is ick. I also noticed that I only have 1
female and 6 males!! They are constantly chasing her around and
trying to breed with her. Finally I put her in her own little
breeding net. Could this be why she got ick because of the stress of
6 other fish trying to breed with her? Also my alkaline level is 7.6
is this too high.. even for live breeders?

One more question what is the best thing to treat ick with?
