I have bred many black mollies for numerous generations. It helps if the baby fry have dense plants they can hide in, such as floating moss or even plastic "breeding grass". I make sure some food goes to where they are so they can eat, but the big fish can't get to that food easily. Or, tetra flakes broken into very small pieces will be devoured by the tiny fish and ignored by the bigger fish, especially if you distract the bigger fish first with an algae chip. Be careful not to overfeed: water becomes cloudy. As the fry get a little bigger, they seem to come out of hiding and become more self confident, but they still need access to small flakes and the big fish will push them out of the way of bigger pieces. Sadly, some of the fry will swim down into the rocks, refuse to come out, and die there. Perhaps due to birth defects. But don't worry! You will have lots and lots of cute little fish before long if your tank is healthy and the little ones can find food of their own while they hide. Good luck!
