Fuck sake, the narrow minded conservative regime has begun.
Smoking pot isn't a crime, and they should consentrate on the illegal guns that get smuggled in from the US. This is just a smoke screen to the real crime issues.

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada's new Conservative government will scrap draft legislation which would have decriminalized the possession of small amounts of marijuana, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said on Monday.

The legislation, drawn up by the previous Liberal government, alarmed police officials in Canada and the neighboring United States who said it would only encourage the already booming trade in pot.

Once the Liberals lost the January 23 election after 12 years in power, the bill looked to be in deep trouble. One of Harper's five priorities is to clamp down on crime.

"We will not be reintroducing the Liberal government's marijuana decriminalization legislation," he told a meeting of the Canadian Professional Police Association.

"I thought we might find a receptive audience here," he told his audience after winning a round of applause.

Under the Liberal bill, people found with small amounts of marijuana would have been fined but would not have received a criminal record.

Canadian police complain that judges often hand down lenient sentences on people found guilty of running operations to grow marijuana illegally.

Estimates for the value of Canada's booming pot business trade vary widely and some experts say it is worth C$10 billion ($8.5 billion) a year. The main center is the Pacific province of British Columbia, where criminals export potent marijuana, known as BC Bud, to the United States.

($1=$1.18 Canadian)

i actually dreamt the other night that they were going to take stephen harper out of office. i guess cuz i fall asleep listening to the radio and they are canadian, who knows, but in the dream they were going to do what they did to paul martin, like the "no faith" vote or whatever it was called, and it was all going to happen in a week.

too bad that one hasn't turned out prophetic yet!

LOL! It could happen to him too. It's called a non confidence vote, because he is a minority government.

Anyway, I think he's almost been exposed as a liar a few times already, he's on thin ice.

Keep having those dreams and maybe they'll come true, we need your help. I'm hoping twan can use his laser vision and try to zap him out.

I guess you get Cdn radio stations being so close.

If my laser vision hasn't worked on our own president, I don't think it will work on yours.

But I'll definitely give it a try!

So would "decriminalized the possession of small amounts of marijuana" made it one of those things that's ok to have, but not sell? Do dealers have to sell this shiznits 1 bud at a time?

Well, it would make it less of a waste of time to charge someone with 2 grams of pot.
There's been a big problem with Marijuana Hydroponics labs, with people growing pot so I never understood why decriminilizing small amounts under 1/2 ounce would make a difference to that. People will still get their pot from somewhere, but busting someone for a joint is ridiculous. I think the police will make the desicion in the long run as to charging someone. Obviously they don't want anyone growing large amounts in their basements. I think they are only giving house arrest for that now anyway, but this could mean jail time.

A certain person that I may or may not live with got busted for 2 empty baggies he had in the back of his car...and a quarter he'd forgotten he even had. It cost quite a bit and his driving liscense was suspended for 6 months.

Personally, from a Libretarians standpoint, I believe drugs should be legal (and the Republican part of me says tax 'em).

Speaking of legal - did anyone see the headline on the National Inquirerer this week? It's something like "Whitney's Crack Den." And when you open it up there's this big line "Whitney is just scary without her false teeth." LOL! Sad, but come on - she has to be on something - you see that Bobby Brown show?

yes, that was it, a non confidence vote.

yeah, i get a few seattle stations but they are hard to pick up, so almost everything is from vancouver or victoria.

i did have a dream about bush recently too, first and only time, it was a few weeks ago, but at this point i don't remember much except he was giving some kind of talk and there were people lining the streets and it was like he was going to talk to us but we weren't sure, like individually. there was something really major right before that, but i can't remember what it was. i've been so insanely busy lately that i can hardly remember any dreams, even when they are ivid. think i need to get more rest. but anyway the bush dream was right around the third anniv. of the war.

Jes - she believes the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. Show them all the beauty they possess inside. Give them a sense of pride to make it easier. Let the children's laughter remind us how it used to be.

She decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadow. If she fails, if she succeeds, at least she lived as she believed.

Yeah, have you seen the show? Someone must have written that song for Whitney because I've seen their kids.

Ah well, I am jealous of the false teeth! I'd keep them in a glass right next to the bed because I know that's an instant turn on for any man! LOL!
