PEARL JAM To Perform On 'Saturday Night Live' - Apr. 5, 2006

PEARL JAM will be the featured musical performers on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" on April 15. The last time the band served as the program's musical guest was in 1994.

As previously reported, PEARL JAM have been announced as one of the headline acts for England's Reading and Leeds Festivals. The band will perform at both Richfield Avenue, Reading, and Bramham Park, near Wetherby, on the weekend of August 25-27.

Billboard.com reported last week that PEARL JAM will play their first U.K. show in six years on April 20, when they will drop by the 1,600-capacity Astoria. Tickets went on sale last Friday (March 31) in the United Kingdom and reportedly completely sold out within several minutes.

An extensive European tour is in the works for later this year in support of PEARL JAM's self-titled album, which is due May 2 via J Records. First single "World Wide Suicide" is available as a call tone and ringer exclusively through Sprint. The cell phone carrier is also hosting a contest to send a fan to see PEARL JAM play a hometown show in Seattle on a date to be announced. Five runners-up will win a Sprint Music Phone filled with PEARL JAM content.

PEARL JAM will begin the first leg of their North American tour May 9 in Toronto.

This is great news. Dare I say though, I did not dig Ed's vocals on the new song. Sounds like he's missing a few consonnants, and his melodies aren't as strong as they once were.

The guy can run circles around my hack ass, but the first single kinda bored me.

World Wide Suicide?

I only heard the second half on the radio. I'm undecided as of yet. Some interesting mood changes throughout the song - rather chaotic. Like I said, I only heard half and need to hear the whole thing a few times before I really have an opinion.

1994. yah, jeff had that performance (rearviewmirror)
on his site for a bit. cool indeed. along with alive
from snl. i have to side with rob about the new tune.
it's not bad, but doesn't churn my blood as some of
their others. it wants to rock, but seems a half step
behind. ev is in my top 3 vocalists though and always
will be.

Cool thanks for the info and PJ. I like the new single it is not heavy duty but I do like it. I miss the 90's.

Sorry to be a cock, but Pearl Jam haven't really excited me for a while. I thought Matt joining was going to raise their game, but he doesn't seem to be anywhere near as dynamic as in Soundgarden (to my untrained ear) - he seems to be content to keep the beat rather than driving the song along.

Well, PJ music isn't exactly on par with SG stuff. PJ is great, but the musicianship in SG was on another level.
