Author: Iymlad
Subject: Evolution of Consciousness
I had made a comment a while back about how supposedly we are experiencing a resurgance of human spirituality. Well, as I was searching for something unrelated I found this article which specifically speaks to that topic.
My initial thought was that this woman that wrote the article (in 1999) was most likely just another "gifted" lunatic, spilling misguided interpretations to her visions all over the internet. But as I read on I found that I actually agree with much of what she said (and more importantly, HOW she said it). Note that I have heard similar accounts from several others with no affiliation to her.
Enjoy!

I read a bit more on her site ... apparently this is one of those celebrity type psychics.
This cought my attention:
"Does Stacey tape the sessions?
Yes, Stacey tapes the session for you. Since tape recording devices are sensitive and can malfunction (around Stacey!), she cannot guarantee tapes (most of them come out just fine), so she suggests you take notes as well."
I had a reading done for me maybe 6 years or so ago. The woman was (at the time) a friend of a friend (now a friend of mine directly). I taped the session. When I got home and listened to it ... it was backwards ... meaning that the sounds seemed to be playing backwards. Curious, I opened the tape up and rewound the entire things by hand in the reverse direction. It played perfectly after that.

I hate to say it, but I'm not feeling this from those around me.
I feel people increasingly closing themselves off, pulling inward, shutting down. I feel like fear is becoming a more and more powerful force in people's lives and people are becoming less open to hope and understanding and tolerance.

ALERT TO CARSON! Follow this link to www.getpsycic.com (also Mrs. Wolfe's site) and see the CHOCOLATE PARTY GAMES.
I would have a little more faith in what this lady had to say if she hadn't gone to film school, worked for MTV, been an actress as well as a comedian. I agree with Twan - I don't think people are moving this direction at all.
Did you happen to see Wife Swap the other day with the Wiccan Priestess? I read the profiles on a bunch of the families on that show and think most of them are fake (they have to be). Www.abc.com.
Plus with Mrs. Wolfe - I think it's a really really bad idea to stare into a mirror to try to see your angel/guardian.

"I think it's a really really bad idea to stare into a mirror to try to see your angel/guardian."
Why is it ever bad to try to see/experience your angel or guardian? You freaked out by the method? All "supernatural" can be seen as freaky.

I'm not freaked out by the supernatural, per se. But I hate mirrors. I have always hated mirrors. It's just my nature - I have no reason for it. I have 3 in my house and would love to cover them up when they're not in use, but I know that would throw my family off. One is a full length oval mirror that my Grandparents gave me that has moved throughout my house, but now sits in a closet because I can't stand it (but can't get rid of it because it's the only full length I have and my Grandparents gave it to me). I hate hate hate mirrors.

WEIRD about the tape thing. that actually happened to me once, but i never paid any attention to it. there was a guy who did hand analysis (sorta like palm reading) who comes up to the island every now and then cuz his gf lives here. anyway we had a hand-reading event and then my roommate and i each got more in-depth readings. i am always a little skeptical about ALL these things, i am even skeptical of tarot, but this guy was GOOD. he clarified a lot of things for me, about strengths and weaknesses and life issues and just ALL kinds of stuff. so i listened to the tape months later, and only one side of it works! the whole first side is blank. and this was an in person reading at a local coffeeshop, with the Who's Tommy playing in the background. i saw him press record, heard the tape making that little recording noise the whole way through, but only one side works.

Re: Evolution of Consciousness -- hmmmm, 19:29:55 03/11/06 Sat [1]
This lady is entertaining at least. I feel that we're moving more toward Lord of the Flies than any true spiritual awakening. American society will not attempt to get in touch with its spiritual self until it has its own Hiroshima.
It takes massive catastrophe to make people revert to their very basic need for a higher meaning...some greater purpose to make their lives worth living...or at least give them a point of reference with which to justify their senseless, and ultimately meaningless lives. Not meaningless in the spiritual sense, but in the ways that we attempt to define ourselves in the material world in 80 years or less.

Checked out Stacey Wolf, seems a bit cheesy- maybe its just that photo!
Iymlad, what do you think of Rational Spirituality? Here are the precepts.
http://www.rsmovement.org/
1. The physical world is partly an illusion. Our experience of it is governed by our perceptions, which tend not to take account of the fundamentally multidimensional and nonphysical nature of true reality.
2. Everything has soul energy. Everything in the universe, both animate and apparently inanimate, has a soul energy or consciousness of varying complexity that exists independent of its physical form. This is because every form in every realm or dimension originated from the Ultimate Source.
3. The human soul is unique. The human soul is more advanced and individualised than any other on earth. However, there are other inhabited planets throughout the universe that play host to lifeforms both more and less complex than our own.
4. Souls reincarnate to advance karmically. We return repeatedly to the physical realm until we have gained sufficient experience and balance to break free from the reincarnatory cycle. However, the ethereal realms contain an infinite variety of other environments in which further karmic development must occur before we can get anywhere near to reunification with the Ultimate Source.
5. The ethereal realms are governed by perception. We perceive what we expect or want to perceive in the ethereal realms, and imbue our surroundings with greater or lesser degrees of quasi-physical form depending on our level of advancement. Because of this, if we collectively or individually imbue constructs such as hell or demons with sufficient psychic force, they may take on a certain albeit superficial and impermanent reality.
6. We review our past lives and plan our next one. In the interlife between incarnations, unlimited support and guidance is available to allow us to review and replay past lives, and learn where we succeeded and failed. The same assistance is available to help us to choose and plan our next incarnation, often in conjunction with other souls who will be closely involved.
7. All karma involves learning. More advanced souls often deliberately choose adverse life circumstances to help them to learn important lessons and progress their karmic balance and experience. These do not represent punishments for past misdemeanours. Less advanced souls may not make the best use of the guidance available to them in the interlife, and their lives may tend to exhibit somewhat repetitive patterns. But this merely presents them with further opportunities to learn the lessons that have escaped them in the past, rather than resulting from a mechanistic karmic process of 'action and reaction' or 'reaping what we sow'.
8. There is no judgment from on high. We are never judged by higher beings in the interlife. Any tendency towards judgement comes, if at all, from ourselves.
9. Balance, forgiveness, faith and patience are paramount. We all need to learn to apply some simple rules of engagement to physical life, whatever our stage of karmic advancement. We need to balance and moderate our reactions and emotions, whether that be to pleasant or unpleasant circumstances, or to success or failure, because strong unresolved emotions always store up a huge karmic charge. When unpleasant events occur we need to forgive others or, often even more importantly, ourselves. And we need to use our intuition to attempt to remain on our chosen life path, and to have patient faith in fulfilling our plan, without fear. All these ensure that we maintain a progressive rather than repetitive karmic impetus.
10. We all have karmic free will. Nothing happens to us by chance, and nor does a vengeful or inconsistent god determine our fate. We plan the major aspects of our lives in advance, but we have free will to choose other paths. The future is not predetermined, it merely exists as a series of major probabilities and lesser possibilities. We are, both individually and collectively, the masters of our own destiny.

Re: Evolution of Consciousness -- Iymlad, 13:52:43 03/14/06 Tue [1]
1. agree
2. agree (mostly due to teachings from others more than experience)
3. my teachings also support this view
4. sentences 1 + 2 = agree. I have not heard of the concept in sentence 3 but it makes sense.
5. I agree with the concept in general, but not so much the wording of the example.
6. agree based on teaching as well as experience.
7. completely agree
8. agree with the concept but again, not so much the wording or the example.
9. not worded in a way I like in some places, but in general agree.
10. I wish I knew where I stood on this one. I struggle with this. But, I do like this view and I will think some more on it.
Thanks for the post!!! :)

In her explanation, those that move toward the Lord of the Flies situation are those that are living in hell and resisting spiritual evolution. The same peolpe need the catastrophe.
Good comments btw.

I'm curious as to why they call it "Rational" spirituality. Doesn't seem any more rational than any other dogma I've encountered.

twan:
I completely see where you are coming from. But much of this does seem rational to me, though clearly supported by concepts that cannot be clearly proven (or disproven).
Here's an example ...
A few weeks ago my 4 year old son explained to my wife and I (without provocation or any previous related discussion) how #6 works. It completely blew our minds and provided me with affirmation for what already seemed to make sense.
For me, in my mind, rational extrapolations can grow from seeds of affirmation ... and both can be used to solidify ones understanding.

Rational Spirituality.... -- amadaun, 17:20:07 03/14/06 Tue [1]
As I understand it, the movement prefers modern day research, and understandings, rather than blind faith in books written long ago, by people with unknown agendas.
I think it also encourages you to think and learn for yourself, and doesn't set up boundaries.
My mum just ordered the 'The Book of the Soul' from the site, so I can't wait to get a look at that when she's read it.
From the site-
"The Rational Spirituality Movement is an emerging worldwide association of like-minded individuals who share a common spiritual worldview based on the dual concepts of reincarnation and karma. This worldview is fundamentally different from any that has gone before because it is based on rationality and analysis of modern evidence, not on faith and belief in "revealed wisdom", and because it places the emphasis on karmic learning and personal responsibility. The evidence comes primarily from modern research in theoretical physics, and into areas such as near death experiences, children who remember past lives, and past life and interlife regression."

I have less than zero faith in hypnotic regression. I think hypnotic states basically provide a blank slate to be written on, not a clear view into the mind.
Scientific research and testing have reinforced the need for skepticism in this area. It is not reliable evidence, by any stretch of the imagination. Just look at the Satanic scares in the 80s to see how easy it is for people to be accidentally programmed to have false memories while in these states.
But Iymlad, that's really interesting (what your 4 year old told you).

I think the success of hypnotic regression depends on the intent of the person performing it.
But it doesn't say above, that hypnosis was used in remembering past lives, or regressing.

As to the 'Scares in the 80's' I don't think a few widely publicised incidents should discredit a whole profession.
Hypnosis has led to some fascinating discoveries, which are difficult to explain away, and often the skeptics explaination are less believable than the possibility of past lives.
People who can speak an unknown foreign language perfectly whilst under hypnosis, for example........
****There are many cases on record of adults and children speaking and writing languages which they have never learned. Sometimes this happens spontaneously but more often it occurs while the person is under hypnosis or in an altered state of consciousness. In some cases it is only a few words remembered but in other cases the person becomes totally fluent and able to converse with native speakers sometimes in obscure dialects which have not been in use for centuries.
Dr Morris Netherton reports one case of a blond, blue-eyed eleven year old boy who under hypnosis was taped for eleven minutes as he spoke in an ancient Chinese dialect. When the tape was taken to a professor at the Department of Oriental Studies at the University of California it turned out to be a recitation from a forbidden religion of Ancient China (Fisher 1986:202).****

I so love Google!!
Stumbled onto this book by an ex lawyer who argues the case for an afterlife, in the same way you would go about proving something in court.
***I have very carefully selected aspects of psychic research and afterlife knowledge and have argued the case in a way that would technically constitute objective evidence in the Supreme Court of the United States, the House of Lords in England, the High Court of Australia and in every civilized legal jurisdiction around the world.***
The book is available online, you can select chapters to read or download the whole thing!
