Subject: NES-core

I forgot to post this awhile ago:

Went to a show recently and it fucking RAWKED. Local band called The Minibosses had their CD release show. They play only old Nintendo songs (original NES system, not the new stuff) and they are awesome. Good musicians, extremely tight band, delivering these songs as revelations. LOUD and heavy with Punk intensity. Quite possibly the most fun I've ever had at a concert. The crowd was whipped into a
frenzy. Mosh pits and stage diving was unexpected, but if you were there, it would have made sense.

Everyone was so happy and into it. You'd look around and everyone just had those huge grins, where you cant possibly smile any wider without tearing your face in two.
Everyone was just loving this. Standouts were Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, Super Mario Bros. 2, but the Metroid encore was absolutely INCREDIBLE. Such a great eerie atmospheric song.

Loved Metroid as a kid. Many hours spent playing that game.

Sounds like it was cool. And I dig their name.

That's awsome! Now I have the Mario Brothers song stuck in my head. We still have a NES and some games. I like Battletoads.

Yeah, we still have that system, too. There will always be some kind of magic to those games, that the new advanced systems just cant match.

You can hear their version of Ninja Gaiden and Super Mario Bros. 2 over at www.minibosses.com

I can hear it, totally! That Mario Bros music can go on forever.

Their musical influence is game system music, that's cool! It's atleast original and a generation thing.
