Subject: The price of fanaticism is about $31K (so far)
Ok, people never cease to amaze me with just how fanatical they can get over someone they are into. Just when I thought I've seen it all (with the lengths some music fans will go through to feel they have a significant place in a stars life), fanatic movie fans out class and out bid them to the tune of $31,000.00 worth. 31K for Jake Gyllenhaal's Shirts used in the filming of BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN.
SAY HUH?????? the things I could do with 31k even if I were already rolling in it.

I am not that kind of fan about anyone.
I don't collect anything either, I don't even know why people collect baseball cards or memorbilia or comics, etc. I like antiques, but I don't buy things to save and the increase in value.

That is crazy. But I guess $31K to a multi-millionaire is about like me buying 3 CDs. (but that would also take care of a small family for a year)
And I haven't seen the movie, either, but I keep hearing good things about it. I guess I'll wait for the DVD...

It has 138 bids! How many millionares are bidding for that shirt. It gives new meaning to "I'll take the shirt off your (broke)back" (mountain) tehehe I know that sucked. lol
I'm going to wait for the dvd too, I never get to go to the theatre anymore.

The movie is good on many levels.
I don't get buying this for that kind of cash. It I had millions, I could see some things like maybe a Jimi Hendrix guitar or something, but not a damn dirty shirt.
Weird.
It just proves there are no bounds to what people will do when they are into something.

A local radio lady here sold her dog's gall stones on ebay for like $50. People will buy the weirdest things.

Captain Kirk William Shatner sold his gall stones recently too. I think for like 30 grand, but he gave the money to charity. Lots of trekkies out there who want that kind of stuff.

Actually It's a wonder no one has put those on eBay now that CC is adored by a new flock of rabid fans.

Gyllenhaal's Sweaty Shirt Sells for $101,000
The shirt BAFTA-winner Jake Gyllenhaal wore portraying gay cowboy Jack Twist in Brokeback Mountain has sold for $101,100 on auction website eBay. The checked shirt went on sale earlier this month and sold late yesterday to a mystery fan, using the cyber name hlywdstar, after 165 bids were placed. The item's original bid was $9.99. The proceeds from the shirt sale will benefit Variety - The Children's Charity of Southern California. Brokeback Mountain won four BAFTA awards last Sunday, including Best Picture and Director.
