Subject: Your Favorite Love Songs and Why
So I've been thinking about making a cd with all great love songs to give to the woman I love. They can even be about heart ache. Basically just emotions that we all feel when we really love someone. Here's what I got so far...
Lifehouse-Everything
Mark Lanegan-Wedding Dress
Colplay-Scientist
Mark Lanegan-Don't Forget Me
As you can see, I need some help with this one.

OOOhh Chico, that makes me sad, those songs are about a broken heart. Anyway I'll get back with mine, but I'm a coldhearted girl, so I'm cynical about love songs.

TG,
You're completely right about me being heartbroken. It's not a feeling that I would wish on anyone but I have to keep on livin'. In the words of Will Ferrell, "Keep Trucking."~Old School

i'm not too good on this topic. been realizing lately that i don't listen to many like "happy i'm in love" songs really. most strike me as contrived or boring, but i would still like to liven up my selections in that department.
what about that old song sugar pie honey bunch? i do like that one. i think it's the four tops or something like that.
also the song lovesong i just love. it's been done by so many - the cure, 311, tori amos, even have a live version of APC doing it (but w/some added verses about being a madman lol), that's a pretty good one.
#1 crush by garbage? i'm racking my brans here...
i awake!!
does jb have any "in love" love songs? i dunno....

Yeah, it's definitely not easy to come up with good ones because there are so many corny love songs out there. That's why I need your help...

First Cut Is The Deepest, w/Rod Stewart singing
About A Girl, Nirvana
Something, The Beatles (probably the greatest lovesong of all time)
Woman and Dear Yoko, John Lennon
LOLA, The Kinks tehehe
Wild Horses, The Rolling Stones
Angie, The Stones
Maybe not all typical lovesongs, but romantic. This is what I could come up with.

It's Friday, I'm in love....THE CURE! Pictures of You (of course that's the broken hearted version).
Humm..happy love songs....
Dehlia...no wait...he shoots her. That's not a love song at all.
Uhm...Give my love to Rose? No...wait...he dies...
Jesus it is hard.
Hallilujuah (how do you spell that)?
He's got his beer goggles on? lol. That's bad.
Judas by Depeche Mode is a pretty self-involved "If you love me you'll suffer for it biatch" song. :)
Wow. I'm sure 15 years ago, I'd have had a whole bunch. Now I'm all Wedding Singer Love Stinks!

Re: Your Favorite Love Songs and Why -- 23, 15:40:38 02/24/06 Fri [1]
The lead singer of Brad, Shawn Smith, has a bunch of great, heartfelt love songs. His voice is so pure and beautiful that he can pull them off without sounding too sappy.
I don't know how easy his album, Let It All Begin, is to find, though. So that's probably not too much help.
Seal also has some great love and lost love songs. When a Man is Wrong is more of a lost love song, but it's absolutely beautiful.
And U2 has a ton:
With or Without You
All I Want is You (my favorite)
Love is Blindness
Two Hearts Beat as One
And so does Dave Matthews:
Two Step
Crash Into Me
Crush
Lover Lay Down
And (Ohio native) Joseph Arthur has some greats as well (if none of you have listened to me and checked him out yet, yer dum):
Honey and the Moon
September Baby
Termite Song
You Are the Dark
Echo Park
Oh, and who can forget Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes"
I'll keeping thinking.....

oh yes "in your eyes" has to top the list.
how about stinkfist? lol. i'm half serious here...there's this great live version too, from ontario (the same show where maynard says to go home and curl up by a fire, write poetry and have sex), where in the musical interlude, he starts singing all this, "i can't walk out, cuz i love you too much baby..."
i think it's romantic, lol.
or what about parabol/parabola?
or also "two of us" by the beatles or the g.h. song also on let it be, that's nice too.
everybody here wants you! OMG "twenty nine pearls in your kiss a singing smile coffee smell and lilac skin your flame in me..." i could die.
call me a dog and all night thing too...

This is a cool thread.....here is what I came up with and I am surprised I haven't seen this one yet:
Black-Pearl Jam...makes me think of I guy I was in love with and never had anything but a friendship with.
Love Me Two Times-The Doors the word love makes me think of that song.
Love Her Madly-The Doors
Love Rollercoaster-RHCP or I think Cool and the Gang, Earth, Wind and Fire???
Love Stinks- J Geils Band
Addicted to Love-Robert Palmer
One- U2
Love is Blindness- U2 (love that song Twan)
China Girl-David Bowie or Iggy Pop

Everybody Here Wants You is definitely on the list as is Lover, You Should've Come Over.
Those two songs are so beautiful.
