Subject: guilty song pleasures

haha. this was a cheesy band who has one of the
best selling debut albums in music history. best
selling as in number sold, not quality! ;) anyway
the song is hitch a ride, by boston. yeah, i like it-
unlike the rest of their catalog. ;)

day is night in new york city
smoke, like water, runs inside
steel idle trees to pity
every living things that’s died

life is like the coldest winter
people freeze the tears i cry
words of hail their minds are into
i’ve got to crack this ice and fly

gonna hitch a ride
head for the other side
leave it all behind
never change my mind
gonna sail away
sun lights another day
freedom on my mind
carry me away for the last time

No guilt today, but I just heard the grammy nominations this morning and I keep hearing:

"I ain't sayin' she's a gold digger
But she ain't messin' wit no broke..."

Now how awful of a song is that?

I don't have one particular song but, ABBA, Blondie and Fleetwood Mac are guilty pleasures. Probably the female singers, I can pretend to be them. LOL

You should feel guilty about Boston. J/K Every time I think of them I think of Kim Thayil in an interview.

Riki Rachtman asked SG if they were going to make an album like Boston and Kim said "they were making the next Boston album" (literally). that cracked me up

yeah I'm done.

tg. haha. i agree with the guilt, heh.
but i don't mind the little acoustic beginning of that
song. and lyrically, it's not too bad.

Why are ABBA, Blondie and Fleetwood Mac guilty pleasures?

They are all stellar examples of their respective genres.

Hurrumph.

I have a lot of "guilty pleasure" movies (superhero & SF movies), but not really music.

Yes, you are guilty.

Give yourself 23 lashings.

I fully support Blondie and Fleetwood Mac as well. ABBA, although perhaps 23 is right, they should still be considered a "guilty pleasure".

Mine are Duran Duran and Depeche Mode :) (much more guilty about Duran Duran of course)

I'm still a fan of Duran Duran.

The Bee Gees I always listen to, they have a ton of hits from the 60s and 70s.

My guilty pleasure would include Tom Jones, he's fabulous.

*this is a hard category*

OK ok...

Pina Coladas (If you like pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain....)

Summer Breeze (I mean Seals & Croft but when I sing it...I'm singing it Type-O Style)

Kenny Rogers (You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away and know when to run...)

John Denver (Life aint nothin' but a funny funny riddle - thank god I'm a country boy.)

Flock of Seagalls and other 80s bands.

Im - NEVER NEVER EVER be ashamed of those 2 bands. I love them both and even though they may have represented their time a little too well - they're both absolutely important in the grand sceme of music.

Yeah - take it from someone who knows the words to Summer Breeze. :)

Word. Depeche Mode and Duran Duran rock.

I'm really having a tough time coming up with bands I dig that I'm ashamed of.

There's a bunch of stuff that I know most of you people would sneer at, but I LIKE IT. So leave me alone!

But I'll list them anyway (mostly in the R&B/Rap genres):

Seal (I actually REALLY dig him, his album Human Being is pure brilliance)
Kanye West
Alana Davis

I actually like a few pop songs. They have a good beat and you can dance to 'em.

Seal's on my list too.

And I also love the Pina Colada Song (great theme song for long-time-loves).

well now after reading TG's responses I do not feel so guilty. My guilty pleasures are the same as hers. Journey and I love the bee-gees. I acutally love all disco. (hangs head in shame) hehe

I loved Boston. I used to zoom around campus in college blaring them from the tape deck, and I remember when their long awaited 3rd album came out, with the song Amanda.

Duran Duran was a guilty pleasure for me in high school. Not cool for a metalhead.

[> I just don't look at pineapple's the same way -- Iymlad, 08:04:19 02/10/06 Fri [1]

B-52's

I remember liking this track in particular as a kid (yes, perverted way back then as well)

**Strobe Light**

Where's my telephone?

"Is that you baby?"
"Yeah."
"Got something to tell you."
"Oh, what?"

I want to see you tonight
I want you to walk in the door
I want you to lay on the floor
Cause tonight's the night
We make love, under a strobe light
Underneath the strobe light

Wanna make love to you under the strobe light
Wanna make love to you under the strobe light
Strobe light--woah oh oh
Strobe light--woah oh oh
Yeah!

Pulsing light goes to my head!
Everything I see is red

Baby when I kiss your hair
I feel electricity in the air

I'm gonna kiss your eyes
Then I'm gonna kiss your neck
Then I'm gonna kiss your tummy
Then I'm gonna kiss your pineapple

Tonight's the night
For love under the light
Strobe light, strobe light
Underneath the strobe light

Wanna make love to you under the strobe light
Wanna make love to you under the strobe light
Strobe light--woah oh oh
Strobe light--woah oh oh
Yeah!

I just wanna make love to you
I just wanna make love to you
Underneath the strobe light

Strobe light, strobe light
Strobe light, strobe light
Strobe light
Strobe, strobe, strobe, strobe, strobe light

I loved the B-52's in high school. I actually was not into the 80's hair bands because the songs just really had no meaning or just I thought anyway kind of sucked. I was more into punk or whatever you want to call it. The Cramps, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols and that kind of stuff. Although I did not dress or act like one but those guys accepted me anyway.

My favorite B-52 song is 6060842! I've been waiting for you!

My guilty pleasure right now is Loretta Lynn..I really like the CD that she worked with Jack White on. I cannot even believe that I am saying I like Loretta Lynn.....

As far as Duran Duran goes I saw them live once....I don't really remember details of the show but I guess it was okay. Her name was Rio and she dances on the sand......

Ah man, Lump. I like "Golddigger"! I actually really enjoy Kayne West. He really has some great lyrics in his songs. Listen to "Crack Music" before you judge. It's a great tune!

Guilty pleasure...anything by ABBA. Of course, all of you know that about me. I also really enjoy Alien Ant Farm's version of "Smooth Criminal." The video is fun, too.

Who's impersonating me?

Huh?

Honest to goodness I didn't mean to do that! I was replying to you, not impersinating you. SHit!

Sorry.

Here:

OFFICIAL STATEMENT:
23 does not like Rock Lobster. It's Lump and her bad taste in music.
