Subject: Simple, Easy Ways to Cut Down

1. Carpool (if possible)

2. Pack your own lunch/snacks/breakfasts for feises

3. Buy new dresses only when you REALLY need them (aka they don't fit)

4. If you have 3+ kids, try to take advantage of "family maximum" fees

5. Buy new shoes when they don't fit or absolutly are a wreck: take them to a cobbler to have holes repaired in between

6. Wake up at 5 AM to drive to a feis 3 hours away and have dancers sleep in car with favorite pillow, stuffed animal, PJ's and blanket, as opposed to sleeping in hotel

7. Try to stay at a certain brand of hotel and earn "points" towards free nights (I like the Marriot, generally can find good deals, have "double point" specials often, etc)

8. Set up a special account with your bank & deposit X amount per month. Use that for big expenses ie travel, camp, dress, etc. Will make large sums eaiser to pay off.

9. Bring your own breakfast buffet with you when you go to hotels: don't pay $10 for a croissant and a mini box of cereal

10. Don't go to small feises!!!! Competing against 2 other people will not do anything: skip the expense and get in a good 2 hours of practice

11. Socks are not dry clean only: keep practice pairs, and a feis pair or two. Get new ones only for majors. When the feis socks become gross and are ready to be de-promoted to practice socks, then get new ones, but don't get them every feis.

12. Don't spend $600+ on fancy exercise equipment. A jog around the park is the same phisycal value for about $0 , plus the breath of fresh air

13. Wear dress shields!!! No matter what your age, when the time comes to sell your dress, no one wants to wear something that smells bad

14. Water is water is water. Buying water at the grocery store ($6 for 12 bottles) vs. $1 for 1 bottle at the feis??? Stop by the store on the way there. For that matter, buy the generic brand. What is the difference in water???

15. Put names on EVERYTHING!!! Losing something = $$$$
