I went through one of those episodes last year...had a situation where the power would just go away to all my major lights (headlight, dash, etc) and sometimes the engine would studder...found it to be a problem with the wiring coming from the ignition switch. It takes a nasty hard turn coming out of the switch and due to vibration it finally broke the wiring inside the insulation at 2 different locations on 2 different wires...that took all day to find that problem...I hate having to take half the fairing off to get to this stuff...but I guess it looks better than having all the wiring hanging out where you can see it.
