As to the original question of "how many rounds"...I was a 1st Sergeant (Federal) at BGR and, as one might expect, my ammo consumption was rather below average. I probably did not expend 40 rounds, total, during the event. And I'm certain it wasn't as many as 50. Most of the boys in our infamous "Shit-ass Platoon" burned through a whole lot more ammo than that.

At the end, due largely to the "fall-out" from our unit during the event (med problems, injuries), our company had a boat-load of ammo left over. The early fall-outs had no opportunity to reclaim their un-issued reserve ammo. During the "Kumbaya" session (you know, the back-slap-and-prize-give-away session at the end) I did try to marry up people from my company with their remaing ammo, if any. But lots of the fellows just skied out for home after the last formation, so...(ahem!)...I was still left with a fair pile of ammo (some of which was pretty crappily put together, let me tell ya). In the intervening year and a half it has all been put to good use. ;-)
