Dave is right and doing the right things.

If you are not doing squat to get ready, we'll be seeing your ass on the side of the road 3 hours into this event. That is NOT the way you want to experience Piney Woods.

As was once said, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Prevention in this case is preparation. Get your mind and body ready for the test and make sure your shoes and pack won't fail you.

If you didn't do BGR in 2007 it's easy to come into Piney Woods feeling that this will be another event that is hyped but fails to deliver.

Trust me, there's no hype in the level of rigor. We're not out to kill anyone and the mileage we go for each day is doable but if you prepare for this event by looking at a computer and just thinking you're ready, your ass will be in a sling.

This is also not an event where you can easily jump back to the parking lot or flop in someone's yard. We're in the midst of a very large national forest district.

Run, lift, train, whatever it is you need to do, DO IT!

Fred
