I liked the scene in the "Captured by the Shark Men" chapter of FG '36 with Thun zapping the dragon/gocko with a rifle-like ray gun to save Flash. It brought to mind the phaser rifle that Kirk employed in the early Star Trek classic "Where No Man Has Gone Before".
