Question for Commander Rick....any idea if this takes place in roughly same general area as in some scenes from 1939s Buck Rogers, eg, where Kane's men fight Buck and crew? There are many geographical areas in FG/BR and others so very familiar. They even seem familiar on watching todays travelogs, eg, of Southwest's "Grand Circle" which includes some of our awesome National Parks. Perhaps a link to some Bonanza pix might help. Great pictures there.

Re the Rock People section in FGCTU, I always enjoy their people talking English backwards...hmm...Backtalk maybe? Interestingly, Dr. Zarkov demonstrates amazing familiarity with that language (Rock Talk?), which I think he says is an ancient language once used by the lost tribes of the Gobi desert on earth! (I'm impressed with his diversified talents.) In that Rock kingdom, the lizards from 1st serial appear and the Rockmen...I guess literally and figuratively, put their heads (actually hoods) together to create rock formations of sorts to foil the beasts.

Turns out, FGCTU is a close 2nd to me as favorite, for it's music, active pace, air battles, Ming at his peak, and more sophisticated devices, to me anyway, compared against the other two serials. The scrolling Foreward, the lightening bolts, ray gun blasts, much more, were of interest. I did miss Richard Alexander and Priscilla Lawson as Barin and Aura. I thought Carol Hughes was nicely cast as Dale. Too bad there wasn't a fourth FG serial. In the Alex Raymond comics, there certainly was enough material in the Sundays to create much more on film.

Red Rock Canyon State Park is located 3-1/2 hours northeast of Los Angeles. I started going there when I was 10 years-old in 1978. It didn't become a park until the 70's. Movie productions have used the Red Rock region since 1919. State Route 14 runs through the cliffs and you can take the dirt road on either side and very quickly you'll recognize where 'Buck Rogers' and 'Universe' segments were filmed.

The jet fighters from Edwards AFB fly over all the time, but they don't fly backwards! LOL.

Many thanks for the info and pix Commander Rick. Fans of FG/BR, serials, westerns, Bonanza, etc are encouraged to study these photos and associated links. A sense of dejavu may result, wonderment, and perhaps answers to some questions. We must never take things for granted.

On the light side, some time ago, Emperor Ming sent me twice to scout out that region (called Las Vegas) since he was contemplating a lounge on Mongo called The Bada Ming, which was not successful. In any case, I spent days mostly outdoors, roaming Red Rock, Lake Meade, areas to the east, etc. The awesome beauty of the region was overwhelming. I linked some areas in my mind to shows I saw on the televisor earlier.

Now, it seems like those outings, various televisor shows, travelogs and images presented here have merged nicely. Thanks again Rick.
