For me, really doesn't matter as long as it works. Hey, as kids, if we were lucky enough to have TV, it was often a 10-14 inch set with a huge cabinet which often ran hot enough to warm your snack. Maybe your dad swore the TV big time after taking a brown bag of its tubes to local store self-tube tester. Some places seemed to have that |?| mark in the middle register suspiciously often. So, dad returned with a handful of old and new tubes (not returnable) only to have to call TV repair guy and get belted further.#*@$
We've come a long way, but..I'm hearing TVs may go all digital early in 2009! Keep this in mind if you're TV/equip. shopping..ask around, know your options.
On another forum, a fellow said he enjoyed watching remastered FG DVD on his giant screen plasma TV. Ok, good, but if you like FG, sometimes doesn't matter.(Besides, most of FG is in your head!) I've older run of the mill CRT sets. For me, they work good enough for now. Hearing, moreso a concern these days for some.
Hey! would love to see a good, not Crayola like, not tinted, but nicely colorized... Harryhaussen style trilogy or movie of FG. Saw his work on a colorized Things to Come DVD. Looked good to me. Now that's something I'd go for. You?

CRT rear-projection Hi-Def ready 43" and 53" inch XBR by Sony. They have the best-looking image. Not even plasma can touch them, but those are excellent and my second best under CRT. My home audio system I just rebuilt with Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound. Up to 9 channels. Haven't set the menus up yet because I'm waiting on two more effects speakers to wire into the Yamaha receiver and then it's a go. On the other hand two good speakers is all that's necessary for FG and the music.
