Has anybody ever noticed political references in BUCK ROGERS and FGCTU? I'm referring to Ming being called a dictator in FGCTU. There's also a mention of Ming's Concentration Camps. The final chapter in that serial is titled "Doom of The Dictator."

In BUCK ROGERS it's more subtle; Killer Kane is mostly called "The Leader Kane" by his minions. When he answers the radio he says "This is The Leader." Is this a reference to Hitler? I think "Der Fuhrer" translates to "The Leader". The way Killer Kane conducts diplomacy (The treaty with Saturn) seems to me to be a jab at Hitler too.

I think I may have posted this message twice, I'm sorry if I did so. Should His Imperial Majesty send to the static room I'll understand.

Thanks,
Turan

I've had similar thoughts about these issues. Killer Kane really looks like a Hitler knockoff and rather than being just an autocratic monarch, he has a council of of yes-men (generally) who rubberstamp his wishes. Neither Ming nor Azura consulted with a council.

And you're correct that we first hear Ming called "dictator" in the last FG serial from 1940 when Hitler was already wreaking havoc. The writers were trying to play to the sensibilities of the time.
